About Us
Structural Innov8 was created in July of 2018 by Michael Slevin. Michael has over 18 years experience in the precast concrete industry and having realised there was a gap in the market for an innovative design specialist, Michael set up Structural Innov8.
He then built a team of experts who all share the same passion and professionalism of design and detail. Structural Innov8 now works with clients on various projects across Ireland, UK, Europe and Australia.
Our Mission
Our mission at Structural Innov8 is to deliver a service using the most innovative technology, in the quickest possible timeframe.
Our team are always looking for the most sustainable option in every project, which in turn allows our clients to manufacture in the most energy efficient way. Every small change can make a difference.

Michael has eighteen years experience in designing reinforced and prestressed concrete elements.
He has worked on Stadia projects such as the redevelopment of Thomond Park, Lansdowne Road and most recently Tallaght Stadium. Michael compiled the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Edition of the Banagher Precast Concrete Bridge Beam Manual along with the Banagher Precast Concrete Bridge Beam Design Manual.
Michael has an honours degree in Civil Engineering, is a Chartered Member of Engineers Ireland since 2012 and completed a MSc from Trinity College Dublin researching Interface Shear in Prestressed Bridge Beams.
Michael wrote and presented two papers on the subject which have been well received in the industry.
Michael is also part of CEN/TC 250/SC 2/WG 1/TG 4 which is preparing the section on Interface Shear for the latest version of the Eurocodes.
Matt Collins
Technical Director

Email: matt@structuralinnov8.com

Matt is a Structural Engineer and has an honours degree in Civil Engineering as well as a PhD from the University of Limerick. He is a Member of Engineers Ireland.
He has vast international experience in precast concrete design, both in new builds and the assessment of old structures in areas of high seismic activity in New Zealand. Following the structural assessments Matt was involved in developing retrofit solutions with due consideration for structural integrity as well as other economic factors, “add value not cost”.
He has fully embraced the remote working ethos while continuing to work for companies in NZ after returning to Ireland in 2018. He joined Structural Innov8 in July 2020 and has continued to deliver quality designs for clients in the Irish and UK markets.
Matts philosophy is in keeping things simple while working on challenging projects. He believes in efficiency and has developed many tools to boost both efficiency and increase productivity.
Ella McDermott
Graduate Structural Engineer

Email: ella@structuralinnov8.com

Ella joined Structural Innov8 having just graduated from the University of Limerick with an honour’s degree in Civil Engineering.
Ella’s thesis was on the prediction of the dynamic response of stadia to crowd induced vibrations.
Ella completed work placement as an assistant project manager on a large construction site in London, giving her an insight into the ongoings of a busy site and an understanding of the importance of simplicity during the design to reduce complications later in the process.
Ella has worked on some important projects since joining the SI8 team such as The Salmon Weir Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge in Galway City Centre and many more.
